If you’re a bit like me, you’re somewhat able to read a couple of languages. So for me it’s normal to read blogs in English, German, French or Spanish. And what always “gets” me are the different names for the Stampin’ Up colors. It’s really quite confusing to keep them all in my head. So I took the time (being sick and coughing all the time.. stupid bronchitis) and compiled a table on ALL the current Stampin’ Up colors in English, German, Spanish and French.. Take it as some sort of “Stampers little helper” ;) … And what else you […]
I bought a Crockpot on Amazon last week and it finally arrived (all the way from the UK), so I figured it would be a good time to take it out for a spin. :) In the same shipment I received two packages of freezer paper (it’s plastic coated on one side but can be folded like regular paper), since using baking paper didn’t work for me. This is my Crocky, I think it’s very stylish and fits nicely into my kitchen. Maybe I should buy another stoneware insert, so I can actually use it for cooking food. :D I […]
Since I started making soap again, I also got interested in papercrafts. Why? Well, a lot of folks who make soap professionally, shrink wrap their soap. I don’t want to do that.. I put a lot of effort into my soaps to keep the ingredients natural.. Why should I encase it in plastic? Therefore I started to look around the interwebs, searching for paper box tutorials. My initial thought was “origami”, but I quickly found out that I just don’t have the necessary fine motor skills to pull that off. So I stumbled upon several Youtube Channels where the channel […]
If you’re a little like me, you will probably enjoy this soap as much as I will. Until recently, I’ve exclusively been using the bathtub in my parents’ bathroom. Common side effect: dry skin, because of all the hot water. And bathing (for me, at least) means that the entire body is supposed to be submerged in water, which results in a lot of waste water. So I’ve started showering. Bought a lot of different showering gels but still haven’t found one that is moisturizing for the skin AND soothes your entire being by releasing relaxing essential oils. While surfing […]
I have this office chair that my mum once bought for me. A professional office chair that wasn’t cheap (around 400€) and should be quite resilient to constant use. 7 years later, the mechanical parts are still OK.. The seat fabric and the cushion underneath.. Not so much. Something had to be done, therefore I dismantled the chair to take a closer look at the damage. Instead of being stapled to a piece of plywood, the foam cushion was foamed directly into a plastic frame. Which, after 7 years of usage, had already cracked in some places and even pieces […]
I’m currently looking for a new (local) employer, so I have a lot of downtime that I can use to get creative. Cooking and Blogging is one thing, but I always had a bit of a DIY streak. That includes a variety of areas and always occurs in phases. This time it’s soaping. I first got into making my own soaps a couple of years ago when I lived in Nuremberg. Since I was new to the city and didn’t know a lot of people outside of work, I started to delve into things that I could do on my […]
People who know me tend to make fun of my general inability to coordinate my body movements without bumping into the random door frame, table or simply tripping over carpet. Hand-Eye coordination is another matter, entirely. Games where I am supposed to hit a ball with a racket or bat usually end in disappointment. Throwing things at me and expecting me to catch them: Not a good idea, either. But I’m trying the better myself. And because I don’t want to ruin my furniture in my effort of trying to learn how to juggle, I crocheted three balls in different […]
Standard sized beanie. The colors represent the snow and the evergreen firs and spruces I see when looking out of my window. It was crocheted using a 6mm (J in US) hook and the official “myboshi” beanie wool in the colors 123 emerald and 191 white. Half-Double crochet all the way and one round of slip stitches to finish it. How do you like it?
Sort of my inspiration for this beanie. It’s a little longer than my head so it droops on the back of my head. It was crocheted using a 6mm (J in US) hook and the official “myboshi” beanie wool in the colors 131 orange and 134 chili red. I’m not really one to follow instructions, so I just eyeballed the measurements and used half double crochet stitches.
At the beginning of 2013 I was finally cast-free but still couldn’t use my arm for much. I somehow had to regain function and crocheting seemed like a good idea. I crocheted for the last time when I was still in Elementary school, so my skills were a little rusty. Mum bought two very large balls of wool and so I just started crocheting again. Since temperature was promised to drop, I made some winter accessories. 100% acrylic wool, 4ply or 450m/100g. Colors: forest green and steel gray. I alternated between a size 10mm (N/P in US) and a size […]
